Sound Transit today will hold a public hearing to gather feedback on its proposed six-year transit development plan.
Under Washington state law, the agency is required to prepare a plan and hold a public meeting, agency officials said in an emailed notice. The plan for 2017 through 2022 outlines Sound Transit’s strategies to meet state and local priorities for Sound Transit’s transportation services, including capital improvements implemented under voter-approved initiatives.
This year, the agency is slated to complete installation of positive train control on the Sounder commuter-rail system’s South Line. Also this year, Sound Transit expects to to finalize design for the East Link light-rail route and begin final design for the Federal Way light-rail extension, according to the development plan.
Next year, the agency will kick off construction of the Lynnwood Link and Tacoma Link extensions.
