UP names Jalali chief information officer, Panzer SVP of strategic planning

Union Pacific Corp. has named Rahul Jalali chief information officer, effective Nov. 2.
Jalali will lead the development, implementation and operation of UP’s information and telecommunications technologies, UP officials said in a press release.
Jalali served 23 years at Walmart Inc., most recently as vice president of Walmart International. During his tenure, he led information technology (IT) organizations for multibillion-dollar revenue business units with globally dispersed teams to increase revenue margin while improving operational safety.
He will report to UP Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Lance Fritz.
“Rahul’s leadership and expertise will guide our industry-best IT team’s efforts to drive innovative technologies that optimize our customers’ supply chains,” said Fritz.
UP also announced that Jon Panzer, who served as as interim chief information officer, has been named senior vice president of strategic planning. He also will report to Fritz.
