The Transportation Communications International Union (TCU)/International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) elected Arthur Maratea national president to fill the interim position vacancy created by the retirement of Robert Scardelletti.
Previously, Maratea has served as TCU/IAM Executive Council national vice president, special assistant to the TCU president, and head of TCU’s industry relations and social services departments.
Maratea has extensive experience in contract negotiations throughout the union and has been a prominent figure in coordinated bargaining with various other rail labor unions, union officials said in a press release.
Maratea also served as vice chairman of the Cooperating Railway Labor Organizations (CRLO), a group of 12 rail labor unions that oversee collective bargaining for benefits on behalf of railroad members.
Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen National President Dennis Pierce has been elected CRLO chairman to succeed Scardelletti, who served as chairman for 19 years.
