BLET to host a GCA ST UnionTrack training class

INDEPENDENCE, Ohio, June 29 — The BLET’s Education and Training Department is hosting a GCA Secretary-Treasurer Training Class for UnionTrack in the Training Center in Independence, Ohio, from August 9-11, 2016.

Space in the class will be filled by those GCA Secretary-Treasurers who register online on a first come first serve basis. Attendance is limited to the first 25 who register so those interested should register as soon as possible. You must register for this Class online through the BLET website at: www.ble-t.org/gcast.

Please arrange your travel to arrive Monday, August 8 and depart Friday, August 12. Full-day sessions will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 4:30 p.m. from Tuesday through Thursday.

GCA Secretary-Treasurers will receive training in a number of areas, utilizing the new UnionTrack system. A goal for our instructors is to help you understand all of the functionality of UnionTrack and give you the knowledge to answer questions that you may receive from your STs.

Guest speakers will include: Dennis R. Pierce, BLET National President; Stephen J. Bruno, National Secretary-Treasurer; and James P. Louis, Vice President and Department Head of Education and Training.

Instructors will include: Pat Fallon from UnionTrack; Megan Mead, Director of the Compliance Department; Walt Schmidt, Director of Online Services: and Jason Wright, Director of Education and Training.

Please bring any reports that you are working on and supporting documents. We will have individuals on hand to assist you in every way possible to show you the easiest way to use all UnionTrack functions to complete your reporting.

Upon successful completion, attendees will qualify for a $140 per day stipend from the North American Railway Foundation (NARF). The stipends will be paid directly to the General Committee of Adjustment.

NARF is a non-profit foundation formed by the Brotherhood’s Relief and Compensation Fund (BR&CF) to support rail history, education, safety and technology in the United States and Canada. With initial funding and continued Board of Directors stewardship coming from the BR&CF, NARF has supported many non-political projects throughout the United States and Canada over the past 21 years. The primary focus of these efforts has been in support of organized rail labor — giving back to all of the men and women of the railroad community across North America.

Attendees must register for this GCA ST Class online no later than July 19 through the BLET website at: www.ble-t.org/gcast .

After registering online, attendees will receive an e-mail confirmation that will include hotel registration information. The BLET National Division pays the costs of books and equipment, while GCA Secretary-Treasurers who attend are responsible for their own transportation costs as well as their room and board.
