BLET Education & Training Dept. announces Training Schedule for Fall 2017

INDEPENDENCE, Ohio, July 26 — The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen’s Education & Training Department is announcing its Fall Training Schedule for 2017, and all officers and members are encouraged to register as soon as possible.

Members can register for these classes through the updated BLET Education & Training Department registration site (www.ble-t.org/departments/et).
From the main BLET website, you can find the Education & Training area by clicking the following graphic:

You can also register by using the following link www.ble-t.org/departments/et/ and choosing the classes you see listed in the red box.

The classes are as follows: Local Chairman Class, September 10-15, 2017; GCA, SLB, Division ST’s Expanded Secretary-Treasurer Class September 25-28 2017; Advanced Local Chairman Class, October 8-13, 2017; and General Chairman Class, November 7-9, 2017.

Classes will be held at the BLET National Division Headquarters’ Training Center in Independence, Ohio, and are designed to help our elected officers develop and hone the skills necessary to provide the best representation possible to our membership.

Registration for these classes is on a first-come, first-served basis and class space is limited so don’t delay in registering for your spot. Even though we encourage all alternate officers to apply for classes, priority will be given to those officers that hold the position the class is designed for. Registration for these classes will close 35 days from the class start date, and we will immediately start filling remaining spots with alternates and vice officers who have applied.

Upon successful registration for the class, you will receive a confirmation that includes information about reserving a hotel room within the block that we have established for the class you registered for. This confirmation will also include transportation information during your stay along with meal information.

The BLET National Division pays the costs of equipment and materials. BLET members who attend are responsible for their transportation costs as well as their room and board. When planning out the cost of your trip, please contact Jason Wright by email (wright@ble-t.org) to get an idea of what additional items that are covered such as meals, etc.

Those who successfully complete the course will qualify for a per day stipend from the North American Railway Foundation (www.narfoundation.org). The stipends will be paid directly to the Secretary-Treasurer of the Division, General Committee of Adjustment S-T, or State Legislative Board S-T, depending on who is sending you.

The North American Railway Foundation (NARF) is a non-profit operating foundation formed by the Brotherhood’s Relief and Compensation Fund (BR&CF) to support rail history, education, safety and technology in the United States and Canada. With initial funding and continued Board of Directors stewardship coming from the BR&CF, NARF has supported many non-political projects throughout the United States and Canada. The primary focus of these efforts has been in support of organized rail labor — giving back to all of the men and women of the railroad community across North America.

The National Division will periodically release new class dates so don’t forget to check the BLET website on the Education & Training Department’s webpage (www.ble-t.org/departments/et) for future class dates.
