Amtrak feels the heat after high-profile flubs

WASHINGTON, D.C. — It was a rough weekend for the railroad, which came under fire from a senator and other high-profile figures for two incidents that went viral. Sherrilyn Ifill, the president of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, tweeted on Friday that she had been asked to leave her seat on an Amtrak train that was supposed to have no assigned seats. Also on Friday, NPR reported that a group of wheelchair users were given a price of $25,000 for Amtrak tickets, on a short trip that would normally cost $16.
