House railroad subcommittee slates hearing on grade crossing safety

The U.S. House Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines and Hazardous Materials will hold a hearing next week on the topic of grade crossing safety.

Titled “Tracking Toward Zero: Improving Grade Crossing Safety and Addressing Community Concerns,” the hearing will be held at 10 a.m. (EST) Feb. 5 at the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, D.C., according to a press release issued by the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.

The hearing’s purpose will be to learn from stakeholders about current challenges affecting grade crossing safety, trespassing and suicide incidents, blocked grade crossings, as well as efforts to mitigate safety and community concerns of those issues.

U.S. Rep. Daniel Lipinski (D-Ill.) chairs the subcommittee. The hearing will be available for viewing via webcast.
