The Terminal Railroad Association of St. Louis (TRRA) has named Ronald Tindall Jr. president. He succeeds Mike McCarthy, who retired at the end of March.

Previously, Tindall was compliance officer at Trans-Global Solutions Inc.. Prior to that, he spent 20 years at Union Pacific Railroad, where he started as a brakeman, conductor and engineer.

At UP, Tindall rose through the ranks, ultimately serving as general superintendent of the Class I’s western region. In that role, he was responsible for reducing the reportable injury rate from 2.65 to 1.32 in eight months, and was able to trim the budget by $4.6 million, TRRA officials said in a press release.

“Ron brings his years of railroading experience back to St. Louis where he started his career in 1998,” said Asim Raza, TRRA’s chief legal officer and corporate affairs director.

Tindall’s leadership, training and experience working with continuous quality improvement and lean management principles will help the railroad moving forward, Raza said.

“We are excited to have him lead our railroad during this time of economic uncertainty in our nation and unprecedented infrastructure renewal of our system,” he added.
