BLET resumes in-person training classes; Will host Legislative Rep training in June

INDEPENDENCE, Ohio, March 7 — Class is back in session for members and officers of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET). After a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the BLET returned to in-person workshops last week with several days of intensive training for Secretary-Treasurers.

The BLET’s Education & Training Department announced today that it will resume in-person training classes for Local Chairmen, Secretary-Treasurers, Legislative Representatives, and other elected officers. In-person training for BLET Legislative Representatives will take place at Teamster Headquarters in Washington, D.C., June 5-9, 2023.

National Secretary-Treasurer David Estes, the Director of the BLET Education & Training Department, said that Washington, D.C., is the best location for the upcoming workshop because part of the legislative training involves lobbying members of Congress. Also, Estes said that Las Vegas served as a temporary host city while the Education & Training Center at BLET headquarters in Independence, Ohio, undergoes a significant technology upgrade. The BLET will ramp-up training courses at the home office after the upgrades are complete.

The dates and locations of future training classes will be announced as details become available. Members should monitor the BLET National Division website (https://ble-t.org/education-training/) and social media platforms for the latest updates.
